Ultrasound diagnosis

Musculoskeletal ultrasound diagnosis is a non-invasive imaging technique that shows muscles, tendons, ligaments, joints and other soft-tissue structures in real time, making it easier to identify injuries and functional disorders accurately.

Technology Alpinion® Reference equipment our team works with.

About this technique

Musculoskeletal ultrasound uses high-frequency sound waves to produce detailed images of anatomical structures without ionising radiation. It can identify changes in tendons, muscles, ligaments, joints and peripheral nerves, and detect joint effusions, inflammatory processes and certain soft-tissue injuries.

One of its main advantages is dynamic examination: structures can be observed during movement, their functional behaviour assessed and the ultrasound findings related to the patient's symptoms. It also makes it easier to monitor how certain injuries evolve and how they respond to treatment.

At Akro we have four high-resolution Alpinion® ultrasound scanners (X-CUBE 90, X-CUBE 50, X-CUBE DIAMOND and X-CUBE LE), which our professionals use to complement the clinical examination, guide diagnosis and set individual treatment strategies. When indicated, ultrasound is also used to plan ultrasound-guided interventional procedures, improving visualisation of the structures while they are performed.
