About this technique

Is the pelvic floor just a “women's issue”?

We recommend paying attention to your pelvic floor: a weakened pelvic floor can lead to urinary incontinence, prolapse (descent of the intra-abdominal organs), sexual dysfunction or low back pain.

But what exactly is the pelvic floor?

It is a group of muscles and ligaments that close the lower part of the abdominal cavity. Its role is to hold the pelvic organs (bladder, uterus, vagina and rectum) in the right position so they can work properly.

So, although the pelvic floor is popularly associated only with women, a weakened pelvic floor can also cause functional problems in men. Toning this area supports ejaculation control, improves sexual relations and helps prevent possible prostate inflammation.

At Akro you can count on the guidance of our colleague Judith Olguín, a physiotherapist specialised in the Pelvic Floor, for specific treatments focused on pelvic floor prevention and care.

We also have pelvic floor technology pioneered in the Canary Islands, such as INDIBA® ACTIV and its new electrodes for intracavitary treatment.
INDIBA® ACTIV treatment offers patients the following benefits:

  • Reduces incontinence, allowing you to return quickly to daily activities without urine leaks
  • Faster recovery from tears and episiotomies
  • Reduces the risk of haemorrhoids
  • Keeps the vaginal muscles toned for a full sexual life
  • Helps prevent prostatitis
